Wayne Cody

Heaven has many angels but today we know it’s even brighter because God brought home Wayne Gray Cody, 83, of Advance, NC.  Mr. Cody died on May 18, 2021 after an extended illness. He was born in Forsyth County on October 3, 1937.  Wayne graduated from Gray High School in 1955.  He was married to Peggy Joyce Cody for over 64 years.  Wayne retired from RJ Reynolds tobacco company in the research and development department.  He pledged his life to serving God and his family.  He was a deacon at multiple churches throughout his life including Wallburg Baptist Church, Swansboro Baptist Church, and Green Meadows Baptist Church in Mocksville.  He was an avid sports fan, fisherman, and loved ballgames.  He was preceded in death by his father Clarence B. Cody, Kathleen Long Cody, 3 brothers, and a special feline companion Sophie.  He was survived by his beloved wife Peggy Joyce Cody, one daughter Deborah Cody Marsh, son-in-law Charles, one granddaughter Joy Moverley, grandson-in-law Mike, and one great-granddaughter Mary Katherine; his sister Marie and brother-in-law James Adams; niece Beverley Ellison and nephew Denis Adams; and many cousins.  Funeral service will be held at 2PM on May 20, 2021 at Green Meadows Baptist Church by Pastors Josh Greene and James Buchanan.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends after the burial in the church fellowship hall.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Green Meadows building fund at 1646 Highway 801 North Mocksville NC 27028.  Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com
