Sarah "Ann" New

Mrs. Sarah "Ann" Johnson New, 71, of Winston-Salem passed away Thursday, October 25, 2018 at Forsyth Medical Center. Ann was born in Forsyth County to the late Roy Elmer Johnson and Sarah Mabe Johnson on June 11, 1947. She was a member of Friedberg Moravian Church and enjoyed volunteering at Sunnyside Ministry. Ann retired from Wachovia Bank after many years of service. She will be remembered as the most loving, encouraging, and dedicated wife, mom, grandmother, and friend anyone could have. She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Harry “Rooney” New, Jr.; daughters, Sherri DeVoto (Chip) and Pam Vest (Ed); five grandchildren, Ryan, Will and Sarah Vest; Hunter and Anna DeVoto; sister, Dorothy Houslander (Barry) of GA; brother, Joe Mabe (Jackie) of PA. A funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Monday October 29, 2018 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. James C. Newsome Jr. and Rev Dan Nelson officiating, burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, Winston-Salem. The family will receive friends 5:00 - 7:00 PM Sunday, October 28, 2018 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Parkway.
