Ronald Shumate

Mr. Ronald Eugene “Ronnie” Shumate, 64, passed away on June 13, 2019. He was born on Nov. 9, 1954 to Thelma Jean Bates Shumate and Douglas Eugene Shumate in Forsyth County. Ronnie served as an elder at Christ Family Church. He was active in a variety of ministries including Forsyth jail and prison ministry, and yoke fellows. A talented bass player, he also played in the church band. He will be remembered as a man who walked in the footsteps of Jesus; and a friend to all. In addition to his parents, Ronnie was preceded in death by a son, Rodney. Surviving are his loving wife, Susan Jones Shumate; son, Robbie Shumate; brother, Wayne Shumate (Melinda); sister, Karen Shumate; stepson, Michael Berrier (Amy); grandson, Austin Underwood; and numerous extended family, church family and friends.  A funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon, Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Pastor Paul Kendall officiating. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM, Monday, June 17, 2019 at the funeral home.
