Robert Johnson, Jr.

Mr. Robert E. Johnson, Jr., 64, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2018 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Robert was born on Oct. 29, 1954 to Robert E. Johnson, Sr. and Dorothy Ross Johnson in Roanoke, VA. He attended Rome High School in Georgia and eventually moved to Winston-Salem with his family where he graduated from West Forsyth High School. After graduation, he served in the United States Air Force where he received his postgraduate education. Robert retired from Duke Power after 40 years of service as an Engineer. Robert was one of the founding members of Sunrise United Methodist Church in Lewisville and participated in many mission trips with the church.  He was a former member of the town Zoning Committee and was a candidate for Town Council. He also enjoyed working with his CB radio collection and fishing trips to the beach. He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving family includes his two sons: Joshua Johnson of Kernersville and Andrew Johnson (Paige) of Lewisville; two grandchildren, Taylor and Avery Johnson; one sister, Karen Lord (Jimmy); one niece, Melissa Lord; two brothers, Todd (Tammy) and Kevin Johnson; and two nephews, Blake and Dylan Johnson. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Monday, Nov. 5, 2018 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home Lewisville Chapel, with Military Funeral Honors provided by the Air Force Honor Guard at 5:00 PM.
