Pauline Rule

Pauline Story Rule, 89, passed away at home on September 19, 2022. She was born on January 25, 1933, to Allie Lowrance Story and Charlie Smith Story in Watauga County. She grew up in a small town outside Boone near Grandfather Mountain. She loved to pick wildflowers and enjoyed being a mountain girl. She also enjoyed time spent at the beach and hunting for seashells. Pauline loved her family and took delight in watching the children as they played. Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Rule, and a granddaughter, Sarah. Surviving are her daughters, Sue Bullins (Tim) of Madison; Barbara Terry of Princeton, WV, and Judy Johnson (James) of Stuart, VA; a son, Charles Gentry (Rita) of Madison; six grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Joan Sands of Winston-Salem. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, September 23, 2022, at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, with Rev. Doug Klein officiating. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com
