Patricia Tuttle

Ms. Patricia Ruth Tuttle, 77, passed away Sunday February 20, 2022.  She was born September 12, 1944, in Raeford, NC to the late James Sherrod Tuttle and Ruth Black Tuttle.  In addition to her parents, Patricia is preceded in death by a sister, Amelia Tuttle Morrow. She is survived by a sister, Anna Tuttle Thoma (Husband Joseph), her partner Jim Welch, and many nieces, nephews and cousins with whom she kept in close contact.

She received her BA degree from Lenoir Rhyne College (now University) in Hickory, NC and took graduate courses at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. She worked as a librarian for the state of New Mexico for many years before returning home to North Carolina where she continued working as a bookseller and retailer.

Patricia (Patty) led an independent and adventurous life. She loved to travel and lived in numerous cities, including Charlotte, New Orleans, London, Santa Fe, and finally Winston-Salem.  She was a devoted daughter to her parents and cared for her mother during her mother’s last year. She was a loving sister, aunt, niece, and cousin to her relatives and a dependable friend to those in need.

Patty was an avid reader and had a keen interest in current events. She valued truth, fairness, kindness, and justice.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial gift may be made to Habitat for Humanity.
