Michael Palmer

Mr. Michael Harold “Mike” Palmer, 51, passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born July 10, 1967 in Surry Co. the son of Jack and Nancy Palmer. He was a member of Jessup Grove Baptist Church. Michael started his career in law enforcement with the Pilot Mountain Police Department in 1988. He served and protected the citizens of Pilot Mountain until his retirement in 2017 with 29 years of service. Michael was dedicated, respectful and professional law enforcement officer. He served in many roles throughout his career with the Town of Pilot Mountain and will be forever missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Sue Palmer; a daughter, Lauren Palmer; a son, Jake Palmer; a grandchild, Josie Lee Cheek; his parents, Jack and Nancy Palmer; two brothers, Tim Palmer (Glenda) of Harrisburg and Mark Palmer (Cora Lee) of Charlotte; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 7, 2018 at Jessup Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Barry Clement and Rev. Allen Branch officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 Saturday evening, October 6, 2018 at Jessup Grove Baptist Church.
