Mary Mayo

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Surratt Mayo, 81, went to be with the Lord May 26, 2019.  She was born May 8, 1938 in Davidson County to the late Elvin and Mae Surratt.  Mary was a service manager in credit and catalog for JC Penney and retired with 25 years of service.  She was a faithful member of Marshall Baptist Church for many years.  Mary was an Elvis fan and loved the old time gospel music.  She was kindhearted, loving and hardworking, and loved being with family, especially during Christmas, her favorite time of year.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 39 years, Robert Lee “Bob” Mayo.  She is survived by her son, Allen Dellinger (Sharon); four grandchildren, Jessica Felker (Brent), Jacob Dellinger (Miranda), Jordan Dellinger, and Teresa Smith (Michael); five great-grandchildren, Peyton, Landon, Kayden, Penny, Mason, and numerous nieces and nephews.  A funeral service will be conducted 12:00 noon Tuesday, May28, 2019 at Marshall Baptist Church with Rev. John Holmes and Pastor Gary Styers officiating.  Entombment will follow at Gardens of Memory.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 11:00 AM at the church.  The family would like to express a special thanks to those hospice nurses who cared for Mary during her illness.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association Western Chapter, 1315 Ashleybrook Ln., Winston-Salem, NC 27103.  Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.  (Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall).
