Lilly Carroll

Mrs. Lilly Gertrude Carroll AKA “Granny”, 96, passed away peacefully Monday, June 24, 2019.  She was born September 18, 1922 in Gates County NC to the late Levy Carlton Harrell and Libby Perry Harrell.  Granny’s hands did a lot in 96 years.  They made bullets in WWII, wore the ring of her soul mate, worked fields, picked cotton, held babies, wiped tears, fried chicken, fish, and corn cakes, made chocolate pies, gave hugs, (and a couple of spankings) along the way.  She was a faithful member of Vienna Baptist Church for over 30 years.  Granny was an avid homemaker and loved to take care of her family.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Carroll is preceded in death by her loving husband, Thomas Esca Carroll; son, Thomas R. Carroll; two brothers; and one sister.  She is survived by her son, Dennis Carroll (Beverly); Daughter-in-law, Judy Carroll; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and sister Janice Brown (Walter).  A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday, June 29 at Vienna Baptist Church with Pastor Ethan Meadows officiating.  Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday, June 28 at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Vienna Baptist Church, P.O.
