Kirk Holcomb

On December 16th our beloved Kirk passed from this life due to a sudden and unexpected heart attack.  He had a big smile, a wonderful hug and was full of life, laughter and so much love.  His presence could be felt before you saw him.  Our hope is to still feel him from time to time.  We find great comfort knowing we will see him again.  He was happily married for 32 adventuresome years to Stephanie Sprinkle Holcomb, was a wonderful father to Allyn and Noah, brother to Christie (Jim, Max & Ethan) Rice, Karen Holcomb and Rana (Travis (Annie) Holcomb-Faye, Whit Holcomb-Faye) Holcomb.  He loved his large family of in-laws and was always there to lend a hand, a hug, wisdom, or just a good time.  He was preceded in death by parents Bettie Cummings Holcomb and Bob (Sarah) Holcomb and a brother in-love, Andy Tamer.  In 1984, he started his employment with Haverty’s Furniture Company as a display assistant and delivery driver.  Through hard work, dedication, and his natural business acumen he worked his way up through the company to become General Manager of multi-store operations.  He took great pride in his career and was most happy when motivating others to be and do their best.  He was a friend and a father figure to many and was known as “K-Daddy” to a special few.  He will be forever missed and frequently honored by beach walks, kayak and camping trips, music festivals, laughter and conversations around a campfire.  A memorial service will be held January 22nd at 2pm at Mary Alice Warren Community Center in Lewisville, NC with a reception and visitation 3-5pm.  Kirk loved the coast.  It would honor him well to support the North Carolina Coastal Federation ( nccoast.org/give ).
