HIGH POINT - Joyce Lain Nesbit, 89, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at her home in River Landing Retirement Community where she had been battling several illnesses. Judith Joyce Lain Nesbit was born on July 18, 1930, in Rowan County to the late Carl A. Lain and Ruby Ballard Lain. Joyce worked for over four decades in the High Point City Schools Food Services Program overseeing the meals served to High Point school children. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of High Point and greatly loved her church and church family. Joyce and her late husband, Charles L. Nesbit, Jr were previously regularly active in their beloved Square Dancing and Ball Room Dancing clubs. Only Joyce’s love for Jesus Christ and her family exceeded her love to be at the beach enjoying her family and great friends. That love for the beach permeates through the family today.
In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Charles L. Nesbit, a sister, Barbara Lain Jones, a brother, Jimmy Lain, a sister-in-law, Jeannette Lain, and an infant granddaughter, Karen Nesbit.
Surviving are two sons, Gary Nesbit of Nashville, TN, and Michael Nesbit (wife, Angela) of Mason, OH; four grandchildren, Michelle Nesbit Greiner (husband, Adam) of Nashville, TN, Carie A.Cumbee (husband, Matthew) of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Caroline N. Fullen (husband, Corey) of Mason, Ohio and Mark Nesbit of Nashville, TN, a brother, Bob Lain of Cary, NC, one great granddaughter, Riley Cumbee of Virginia Beach, VA and a soon to arrive new great grand child.
A service will be held at 12:30 PM Saturday, May 30, 2020 in Floral Gardens Mausoleum Chapel in High Point. The family is respecting the Covid 19 recommendations from the CDC, asking all to please wear a face mask, if at all possible.
