Kernersville- Mr. John Christopher “Chris” Spivey, 67, passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at his residence. He was born March 13, 1955, in Lee County, AL, the son of John and Martha Ray Spivey. Chris was a member of First Baptist Church, attended Appalachian State University and retired from Verizon Wireless with 22 years of service. He was a former treasurer of the East Forsyth Band Boosters and was a member of the Amateur Ham Radio Association (KB4UYP). Chris enjoyed Appalachian State Football, the beach, woodworking, Amateur Radio and gardening. He loved his children and his grandchildren. Chris was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Linda Swinney Spivey; two children, Christopher Spivey (Kristy) of High Point and Frances Spivey of Sneads Ferry; two sisters Denise Graves of Ocean Isle Beach and Meg Spivey (James Connors) of Charlotte; two grandchildren Eli Spivey and Anna Jo Spivey both of High Point and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday December 18, 2022, at First Baptist Church in Kernersville with Rev. Jim Cohn officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Appalachian State University Foundation/Yosef Club Scholarships; ASU Box 32014; Boone, NC 2860, the Piney Grove Rescue Department; 1109 Piney Grove Rd, Kernersville, NC 27284, as well as a charity of the donor’s choice.
