John Redding, Sr.

John Arthur Redding, Sr., 92, passed away Saturday, September 17, 2022.  He was born January 1, 1930, in Clemmons Township to the late David Paul Redding and Metta Roop Redding.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Redding is preceded in death by loving wife of 67 years, Wanda Pegram Redding; two sisters, Polly Hennings and Dot Sheetz (Joe); three brothers: James D. Redding, Tommy Redding (Penny), and Marshall Redding.  He is survived by his son, John Arthur Redding, Jr. (Martha); daughter, Charlotte Ann Redding; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Mr. Redding retired from a career in sales and was active in many civic and political organizations.  He was elected to the Winston-Salem Forsyth County Board of Education, former Chairman of the Forsyth County Republican Party, member of the Forsyth County Utilities Commission and Board of Elections, former President of Lewisville Civic Club, and former Master of Winston-Salem Masonic Lodge #167.  Mr. Redding also proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, being honorably discharged in 1951.

A graveside service will be conducted 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 21st at Westlawn Gardens of Memory Mausoleum Chapel.  The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at Hayworth-Miller Lewisville.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children .
