Clemmons- Mr. James “Jim” Colon Weavil, 97, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at his residence. He was born July 21, 1921 in Davidson County, the son of Ernest Edgar Weavil and Vada Bell Hastings Weavil. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps from May 1942 to October 1945 and again from October 1950 to November 1951 after which he was honorably discharged. Jim worked in various jobs such as paint, tobacco and sales until he opened an appliance store in 1976, where he faithfully served the community for many years. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Barbara Louise Chambers Weavil and all of his brothers and sisters. He is survived by his daughter, Michelle Weavil and her fiancé, Tim Veach and many nieces, nephews and friends. Jim resided at Heritage Woods for over 10 years until he became ill and spent his last few months at his daughter’s house in Clemmons. Jim made each day a good day with his positive outlook on every situation. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, April 14, 2019 at Clemmons Moravian Church with Pastor Ray Burke officiating. Interment will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
