James Flynt, Sr.

Mr. James Howard Flynt, Sr., 77, passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2019. He was born in Forsyth County on June 16, 1941 to Robert Ray Flynt and Beulah Hill Flynt. Howard was a charter member of Grace Baptist Church. He loved his church and church family. Howard was especially involved in missions and mission projects with the church. The highlight of his retirement years was being treasurer of Grace Baptist Church. Howard retired from Kroger and J.C. Penny each with 15 years of service. He graduated from Hanes High School in 1960. Howard married the love of his life, June, on November 21, 1962. He was a big sports fan. Howard especially loved the Atlanta Braves. He loved to play golf and go fishing. Howard dearly loved his family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his “babies” that he and June helped take care of. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Conrad Flynt, Wilson Flynt, Ernest Flynt, George Flynt, Joe Flynt, and Hoke Flynt. Surviving family includes his wife, June Blevins Flynt; son, James Howard Flynt, Jr. and wife, Rhonda Dooley Flynt; grandson, James Howard Flynt III and wife, Ashley; granddaughter, Brittany Flynt Jones and husband, Jonathan; great-grandchildren, Audrey Violet, Elijah David, Jace, and Cora Denny; brothers, Robert Flynt and Roy Flynt; and sisters, Louise Cooper and Mae Burcham. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Grace Baptist Church with Pastor Jim Bush, Pastor Jeremy Wallace, Pastor Ron Hawkins, and Pastor Elmer Flynt officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Grace Baptist Church. The family is especially grateful for all the love and support they have been given.
