Mrs. Hattie Pegram Shaw Burton, 80, passed away Friday July 17, 2020 at Universal Health Care in King. She was born in Guilford County on July 6, 1940 the daughter of the late John Arvil Pegram and Elsie Mae Mabe Pegram Tucker. Hattie loved to cook and work in her flowers and garden. She also enjoyed reading her bible and spending time with her loving companion Sugar-pie. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Bill Tucker; step-mother, Helen Pegram; first husband, Ernest Allen Shaw, Sr.; second husband, Larry Burton; step-children, Toni Shaw Hege, Ernie Shaw, Jr., Butch Shaw. She is survived by four children, Sandra Shaw Burnette (John), Lynn Shaw Urcia, Vickie L Shaw (J.C.) and Ernest Allen Shaw, III (Heather); two step-children, Peewee Shaw Merritt and Kenneth Shaw (Joann); 10 grandchildren, Robert Lee Johnson, Jr. (Sherry), Steven Holston, Jr., April Holston Everhart (Justin), Crystal Cain (Ty), Jennifer Cain Moran (Matthew), Nickie Adam Denton (Kenny), Andrew Joyce, Christina Shaw (Jaerick), Ernest Shaw, IV, and Bethany Shaw; one sister, Mozelle Childress; one brother, Tony Pegram (Mary); 8 step-grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, who was like a sister to her, Nita Pegram Bullins and numerous loving nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at Woodlawn Cemetery in Eden, NC.
