Mr. George Moritz Wolff, 82, was born in Washington, D.C. and moved to Miami, Florida at a young age. He often spoke fondly of growing up in Miami, graduating from Coral Gables High School, spearfishing, and working in his father’s laundry business. He was selected to attend Boy’s State and Boy’s Nation when he was 16 years old. He graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1957. After school he took a job with IBM and was then called up to serve in the U.S. Air Force. He left the service five years later, honorably discharged at the rank of captain. He then returned to IBM working mostly in sales and engineering, capping off a 30-year career. On February 17, 1962 he married the love of his life, Ina Sue Ostrow and enjoyed 57 wonderful years together. He was a member of the Optimist Clubs in Fairhope, AL; Winston-Salem, NC; and Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada for many years and served in many leadership positions in that organization. For 19 years he volunteered as a tax preparer with AARP. He officiated many games over a 20-year period as a soccer referee for the Optimist Soccer Association and at area high school games. He loved playing cards. He regularly joined two bridge groups and always looked forward to his Thursday night poker games with some of his buddies. He enjoyed sailing and racing his Rhodes 19 sailboat in Mobile Bay, AL. George was preceded in death by his parents, William and Evelyn Wolff; and a brother, Arnold Wolff. Surviving are his wife, Ina Sue “Susan” Wolff; sons, Douglas J. Wolff and Thomas E. Wolff; daughter-in-law, Brandie L. Wolff; and granddaughters, Lucy R. Wolff and Amelia C. Wolff.
