Gene Walsh

Gene Walsh, 82, passed away on Monday, June 10, 2019 at his home in Winston Salem, North Carolina. Mr. Walsh was born in Wilkes County, one of seven children.  He attended Mount Pleasant High School and graduated in 1955. His 30-year career with Allstate Insurance took him to Charlotte NC, Jackson MS, Chicago IL, Rochester NY, St. Petersburg FL, Philadelphia PA, and Atlanta GA, where he retired.  Gene has always been close with his family, opening his home and caring for everyone. He shared a vacation every summer at Holden Beach with 25 family members. Four years ago he moved back to Winston Salem to be closer to his family.  He was fortunate to have a soul mate during his lifetime, his wife Madylene Phillips Walsh, who has walked beside him and held his hand for the past 54 years.  Gene served his country in the United States Army and attended High Point University after his military service.  Surviving him is his loving wife, Madylene, and he also leaves behind nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, and plenty of other family members who’ve loved him dearly. Gene will be greatly missed by his family and friends.  On Saturday, June 15, 2019, the family will receive friends and mourners at 11am, followed by the memorial service at 12pm, all at the Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel, 6685 Shallowford Road in Lewisville.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trellis Supportive Care (Hospice):  101 Hospice Lane, Winston Salem, NC 27103.  Check Subject Line: In memory of Gene Walsh.   Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
