Mrs. Ella Mae Seago, 94, passed away peacefully at her home early morning January 7, 2020.  She was born May 16, 1925 in Yadkin County to the late Lain C. Smith and Aldora Hutchins Smith.  Ella Mae was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother.  Throughout her life she was a hard-working woman, strong in spirit and stature and seen as the “foundation of her family”.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Seago is preceded in death by three children: Joseph Squarcette, Jr., Lucia Anne Shelton, and Carol Marie Seago; five siblings: Rich Smith, Paul Smith, Albert Lee “Buck” Smith, Lucille Mickles, and Edna Miles; and granddaughter, Sharon Marie Wynne.  She is survived by four children: Rondie D. Smith, Sr., Rosie Hunt, Jenny Mae Manuel, and Betty Sue Casstevens; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews who knew her as “Aunt Pete”.  A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 PM Friday, January 10th with Mr. Richard Collins officiating.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
