David Foley

David Joseph Foley, 59, passed away suddenly at home on Nov. 9, 2021 in Winston-Salem, NC. Dave will be deeply missed by all that knew him. He was known fondly by his loved ones as Griz. He was a kind, humble, and hardworking family member and neighbor.

Born in Rome, N.Y., Dave graduated high school from Rome Free Academy. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Zoology from SUNY Oswego. Following college, Dave worked as a pharmaceutical sales rep for Boehringer Ingelheim, winning an award for top sales.

As a master woodworker, Dave had an extensive career that included prestigious projects, with just a few being the Masters’ Clubhouse at the Augusta National Golf Course and the College of Charleston Library. He showed exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail in his work. Dave’s pieces were even featured on the television program Love it Or List It.

Outside of work, Dave was a very caring, diligent, dutiful, and down-to-earth person. He was a lifelong dog lover, and he enjoyed helping others with projects big and small. Dave was an exceptional downhill skier. He also enjoyed boating, waterskiing, hiking, and biking.

David is survived by his wife, Mary Leavery, of Winston-Salem; his children, Caitlin Guest, of Mocksville, NC, and Allison Foley of Fl; his parents, Arthur, and Marilyn Foley, of Rome, NY; his twin sister, Debi Edwards, of Marathon, NY; and his brother, Jeffrey Foley, of Rome, NY.
