Cynthia Martin Freeman, 63, died on January 10, 2019, after several months battling an undiagnosed autoimmune disease.
Cyndi was a native of Clemson, SC, daughter of the late John Campbell Martin and Willie Chiles Martin. She received a BA from Furman University and an MBA from Western Carolina University. For the last 15 years Cyndi worked as a corporate paralegal at Craige Jenkins Liipfert and Walker, LLP. She enjoyed long distance running, having completed several half-marathons since she picked up running in 2013. She finished 3rd in her age group in the Brooklyn, NY half-marathon in 2015 and was training for a full marathon when she began to be affected by the symptoms of her disease in early 2018. She also enjoyed traveling and doting on her two grandchildren.
Cyndi is survived by her husband, Terry Freeman of Winston-Salem, NC, daughter Emily Reed and husband, Robbie of Austin, TX; son Christopher Freeman and wife, Nicki of Charlotte; sister Dianne Martin and husband, Bill Utic of Fremont, CA; sister Pat Martin-Perkins and husband, Hal Perkins of Simpsonville SC; and grandchildren Betsy Reed and Grayson Freeman. She is also survived by loving in-laws, nieces, a nephew, and a host of long-time friends. The family is grateful for so many friends that offered continuous prayers, love, hope, encouragement, and emotional support.
The family will receive visitors at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home at 3315 Silas Creek Pkwy, on Sunday, January 13, 2019, from 1-3 pm. A graveside memorial service will be held in Clemson, SC in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Girls on the Run International.
