Clara Frances Cunningham Robinson, age 89, of Winston-Salem, NC was called home to be with Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, May 5, 2020. A graveside memorial service with close family was held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 8, 2020 at Parklawn Memorial Gardens. Survivors include her daughter, Debra (Debbie) Robinson Landrum; son, Charles Michael McMahan and wife, Sara Moore McMahan; grandchildren, John Windsor McMahan, Katherine Diane McMahan, Christopher Daniel McMahan; and her loving miniature dachshund, Maggie. Clara was born in Sylva, North Carolina, the daughter of Evonne (Vonnie) Bradshaw Cunningham and Robert Glen Cunningham. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, John Thomas (JT) Cunningham. Clara grew up in a Christian home where she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized as a young girl. Her education included Swain County High School in Bryson City, NC and Western Carolina University, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Education. Clara also attended Wake Forest University and High Point University for postgraduate classes. During her 37-year teaching career, Clara was passionate about helping her students and the importance of education. She imparted her value of education to both her children and grandchildren. Clara loved the arts, music, and history. She also loved tending to her beautiful flower garden and playing her piano. Clara will always remain in our hearts. We will love and miss her dearly until we meet again.
