Charles Earp

Mr. Charles Horton Earp, Age 72, passed away January 19, 2019.  He was born April 18, 1946 in Johnston County to the late George Vick Earp and Martha Odessa Earp.  Charles served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War Era.  After leaving the military, he began his career in law enforcement with the Raleigh Police Department. Later he became an officer with the North Carolina Highway Patrol and served until he retired.  Later he became a private investigator in his own business serving his community for many years.  He was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Carson Earp.  He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Linda Butcher Earp; two daughters, Danielle Germini (Matthew), and Emily Southern (Dusty); two grandchildren, Julia Friel and Porter Southern.  A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 PM Tuesday at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with Rev. Doug Cockerham officiating.  Interment will follow at Germanton Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Monday evening at Hayworth-Miller Chapel beginning at 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC, 27103.  Online condolences may be made to www.hayworth-miller.com.
