Betty Moore

Kernersville - Mrs. Betty Maxine Hutchins Moore, 88, passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2019. She was born on June 21, 1930 in Rowan County, North Carolina to Hilary and Bertha Mae Taylor Hutchins. She was Valedictorian of her Senior Class at Spencer High School. She retired from the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools system. She was a member of Oaklawn Baptist Church in Kernersville. She loved music, especially playing the piano, as well as being a mom and grandmother, and was loved by her entire family. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Lacy Allen Moore; two sisters; and three brothers. She is survived by her daughter Lisa McCarty (John); two sons – Eric Yarbrough (Julie) and Todd Yarbrough (Starr); five grandchildren – Lauren Yarbrough Annas (Dan), John Eric Yarbrough, Courtney Yarbrough, Hailey Grogan, and Joshua Grogan; three great-grandchildren – Avery, Ellison, and Riot; one brother – Tommy Hutchins (Jean); and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service for Betty will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Pastor Jay Boyce officiating. Burial will follow the service at Westminster Gardens Cemetery in Greensboro. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
