Alison Lusk

Alison peacefully passed away Tuesday, 7/14/20 after courageously and selflessly battling Pancreatic Cancer.  She was born January 31, 1971 to Will Roger and Alice Phillips Luther. Through this she taught all of those around her the importance of having faith in Christ even in the darkest times of life’s journey.  She loved people and worked hard to help meet the needs of others.  She lived her life serving others.  Alison grew up in Asheboro, NC. Until her marriage, Alison was a faithful member of Browers Wesleyan Church.  She was a graduate of Asheboro High School.  She attended Randolph Community College and Central Wesleyan College (now Southern Wesleyan University).  For 12 years, she worked for Guilford County Department of Social Services.  It was here that she met her husband Todd.  From that day forward they would work together serving people through social ministry and the Gospel ministry of the churches.  She faithfully served alongside Todd in pastoral ministry in 4 churches in 20 years.  She was always his partner and “right-hand man”.  Alison was involved in her community.  She enjoyed helping those in need.  She spent her last couple of years serving the Pilot Mountain Baptist Association.  She loved working for the churches and their congregations in fulfilling their Kingdom mission.  One ministry dear to Alison’s heart is the West Stokes Toy Store.  Alison helped form this ministry in Stokes county that serves hundreds of families each Christmas.  Through it, she has touched many lives in the communities and churches in Stokes County.  She was a faithful volunteer at King Outreach Ministry and other ministries throughout her life.  Alison’s greatest earthly accomplishment was her family.  She and Todd fostered 13 children.  There were 4 who God purposely sent to her heart.  They adopted each one.  She told them, “I may not have physically birthed you, but God birthed you into our hearts.” Her family was her pride as she fought relentlessly for her children.  Alison was preceded in death by her brother, Roger Jason Luther.  She is survived by her parents; husband of 20 years, Rev. Todd Lusk, and 4 children, David (Jessica) Lusk of Winston-Salem, Nicholas Lusk, Darrin Lusk and Caroline Lusk, all of the home; her “5th son”-Jarred Franklin (Jessica) of Apex, NC.  She is also survived by her sister-in-law Erin Luther and nephew Charles Roger (C.R.) Luther and niece Zoe Luther, and her “brother”, Jason Lusk.  Alison also leaves her “fur babies, Cooper, Riley and Trixie.  She will be missed by a multitude of family and friends. The Lusk family will have a time of visitation at Olive Grove Baptist Church in Pinnacle, NC on Saturday, July 18th at 1:30 pm.  A memorial service will follow at 3:00 PM.  We encourage visitors to use face coverings and practice social distancing.  The Lusk family wants to thank Dr. Heather Shearer and the Oncology Team of the Derrick Davis Cancer Center at Forsyth Medical Center for their wonderful and compassionate care; Dr. Timothy Vogler and Dr. Dana Winn and their staffs for both their care and friendship through the years. They also would like thank Trellis Supportive Care and Cancer Services, Inc of Winston-Salem.  The family is eternally grateful to their church family at Olive Grove Baptist Church for their care during this time. The family will receive flowers, and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Olive Grove Baptist Church for West Stokes Toy Store (2131 Volunteer Rd, Pinnacle, NC, 27043); Cancer Services, Inc. of Winston-Salem; Trellis Supportive Care or King Outreach Ministry of King.
