'Judy' Jean Horne Smith

Colfax- ""Judy"" Jean Horne Smith, 61, passed away Monday, November 14, 2011 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born August 21, 1950 to the late Wade Hampton and Vernie Davis Horne. Judy, a Greensboro native was a member of First Christian Church of Kernersville. Judy was an avid bowler, Disney fanatic, loved camping, but most of all she loved spending time with Alia and Emily. Known as Nana to anyone that knew her, her home was always open to everyone. She was known for her cooking but especially her sweet tea. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter, Sandi Brooks in 2007; and one brother. Surviving are her husband, Clay Smith, Jr. of the home; two granddaughters, Alia and Emily Brooks; four brothers; six sisters; two dogs, Mason and Precious and one cat, Gizmo. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday, November 17, 2011 at First Christian Church in Kernersville with Rev. Wayne Branch and Wade Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 PM Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel.
